    Quick Answer

Orient Insurance is the Al Futtaim Group insurer, not Sukoon/Oman Insurance. Typical dental caps are AED 1,500 on Entry, AED 2,500–3,000 on Standard, and AED 3,500–4,000 on Enhanced plans. Direct billing is available only at active Orient/TPA-network clinics; crowns, root canals, surgical extractions, and bridges need pre-authorisation before treatment.

    • Orient is Al Futtaim-owned; Sukoon is the former Oman Insurance Company
    • Annual dental sub-limit: AED 1,500–4,000 depending on employer tier
    • Direct billing depends on active clinic network status and your TPA
    • Pre-auth is required for crowns, root canals, surgical extractions, and bridges
    • Call Orient for policy questions; TPA handles many claim and pre-auth workflows

What Does Orient Insurance Cover for Dental Treatment?

Using the Orient Health Card at a Dental Clinic

The Orient Health Card is your key to direct billing at Orient-network dental clinics. It contains your member ID and policy details. Present it at reception alongside your Emirates ID to enable the clinic to verify your coverage and process direct billing. If your card shows a TPA logo (such as Nextcare or Neuron) alongside Orient branding, the TPA manages claims processing on Orient's behalf — the process at the clinic is the same.

How to Use Orient Insurance at a Dubai Dental Clinic

Step-by-step process from finding a clinic to paying your co-pay.

    1

Find an Orient-network dental clinic in Dubai

Visit orientinsurance.ae and use the 'Find a Provider' or network search feature to locate current Orient dental providers in Dubai by area and specialty. You can also call Orient Insurance customer service on 04-235-7700 for assistance. Always call your chosen clinic directly to confirm active Orient network membership and that direct billing is available for your specific plan — some clinics may accept Orient but operate on reimbursement-only terms.

    2

Present your Orient Health Card at reception

When you arrive at an Orient in-network dental clinic, present your Orient Health Card along with your Emirates ID. The reception team will verify your active policy status, dental benefit balance, and co-insurance requirements through the Orient provider portal. If you have not yet activated your Orient Health Card, call 04-235-7700 or visit orientinsurance.ae to request activation before your appointment.

    3

    Understand pre-authorisation requirements

Simple dental treatments including examinations, X-rays, fillings, and scale and polish are typically covered without pre-authorisation at in-network clinics. However, dental crowns, root canal treatment, surgical extractions, and bridges require prior authorisation from Orient before the procedure begins. Your in-network dentist submits the pre-auth request with clinical X-rays and treatment justification. Orient typically responds within 2–3 working days.

    4

Use your Orient Health Card for direct billing

At Orient in-network clinics, treatment costs are billed directly to Orient Insurance — you pay only your co-payment, which is typically 10–20% of the approved treatment cost. Retain all receipts and any clinical documentation as the clinic or Orient may require these for claim processing. If your annual dental benefit is nearing its limit, ask the clinic to check your remaining balance before committing to further treatment.

    5

Submit a reimbursement claim for out-of-network visits

If you visit a dental clinic that does not accept Orient direct billing, you will pay the full amount upfront and submit a reimbursement claim to Orient Insurance within 90 days of treatment. Required documents include the original itemised invoice and payment receipt, a copy of your Orient Health Card, a completed Orient reimbursement claim form (downloadable from orientinsurance.ae), and clinical notes or a prescription. Reimbursement is at Orient's scheduled fee rate.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is Orient Insurance and who is it affiliated with?
Orient Insurance is a UAE-based general insurance company owned by the Al Futtaim Group, one of the UAE's largest and most diversified conglomerates. Founded in 1982, Orient is well-established in the UAE market and is particularly known for employer group health plans offered to mid-tier companies and SMEs. The Al Futtaim connection gives Orient a strong corporate client base across retail, automotive, real estate, and hospitality sectors — meaning a large number of UAE nationals and residents working for Al Futtaim-affiliated businesses will hold Orient health plans.
Has Orient Insurance rebranded to Sukoon — what does this mean for my plan?
Orient Insurance and Sukoon Insurance are two separate companies and there has been no merger or rebrand between them. Sukoon Insurance is the rebrand of Oman Insurance Company (formerly headquartered in Oman). Orient Insurance remains under the Al Futtaim Group and continues to operate as Orient Insurance. If your health card says Orient Insurance, your insurer is the Al Futtaim-owned Orient Insurance Company. Do not confuse Orient with Sukoon — they are different insurers with separate networks and TPA arrangements. If you are uncertain about your insurer, call Orient customer service on 04-235-7700.
Does Orient Insurance cover dental implants in Dubai?
No — dental implants are not covered under standard Orient Insurance health plans. Orient classifies dental implants as elective treatment rather than medically necessary restorative care. If you require dental implants in Dubai and are on an Orient plan, you will need to pay out of pocket. Dental implant costs in Dubai range from AED 5,500–12,000 per implant including the crown. For long-term cost planning, see our detailed guide on dental implant costs in Dubai and compare with dental bridge or denture alternatives.
What is the Orient Health Card and how does it work for dental?
The Orient Health Card is the physical insurance membership card issued to Orient plan holders. It contains your member ID, plan details, and insurer contact information. At an Orient-network dental clinic, you present this card alongside your Emirates ID to enable direct billing. The clinic uses the card details to access the Orient provider portal, verify your active policy, and check your dental benefit balance and any pre-authorisation requirements. If your card shows a TPA (Third Party Administrator) branding rather than Orient directly, the TPA processes claims on Orient's behalf — the process is the same.
Which dental treatments require pre-authorisation from Orient Insurance?
The following dental treatments require prior authorisation from Orient Insurance before the procedure begins: dental crowns (PFM or zirconia), root canal treatment (on enhanced plans only), surgical tooth extractions, dental bridges, and any procedure likely to exceed AED 500 in a single visit. Your in-network dentist initiates the pre-auth request by submitting clinical notes, X-rays, and a treatment plan. Orient typically responds within 2–3 working days. Performing these treatments without pre-auth means the claim is likely to be rejected, leaving you to pay the full cost.
Is Orient Insurance good for UAE nationals and residents?
Orient Insurance is a practical mid-tier option for UAE nationals and long-term residents whose employers have contracted Orient for group health plans. For basic and standard dental needs — cleanings, fillings, extractions, and emergency care — Orient provides adequate coverage at a reasonable premium. The annual dental limits of AED 1,000–2,500 are sufficient for routine care but may fall short if you need extensive restorative treatment such as multiple crowns. UAE nationals who are eligible for Daman Thiqa coverage may find Daman more comprehensive. Orient is a particularly common insurer among Al Futtaim group employees.
What should I do if an Orient-network clinic is not available near me?
If no Orient-network dental clinic is conveniently located near you, you have two options. First, contact Orient Insurance on 04-235-7700 to ask whether any recently joined clinics are near your location — the network directory on orientinsurance.ae may not always be up to date. Second, visit any licensed dental clinic in Dubai, pay the full cost upfront, and submit a reimbursement claim within 90 days. Orient will reimburse at the scheduled fee rate, which may not cover the full amount charged by a premium clinic. For straightforward treatments like cleanings and fillings, out-of-network reimbursement at most mid-range Dubai clinics will typically result in minimal shortfall.
How does Orient Insurance compare with Daman for dental coverage?
Both Orient and Daman are mid-tier UAE insurers offering employer group dental plans at similar price points. Daman has a broader provider network — the largest in the UAE under its Thiqa (Abu Dhabi) and Smart Care (Dubai/Northern Emirates) schemes — which makes it easier to find in-network clinics across all of Dubai. Orient's network is solid in Dubai but smaller than Daman's. Annual dental limits are comparable: AED 1,000–2,500 for Orient versus AED 1,000–5,000 for Daman depending on plan tier. Both exclude implants on standard plans. The main advantage of Daman is network breadth; the main advantage of Orient for some employers is competitive group plan premiums from the Al Futtaim insurance distribution network.
Who is the TPA for Orient Insurance claims in Dubai?
Orient Insurance uses Nextcare as its Third Party Administrator (TPA) for many of its employer group health plans. Nextcare handles day-to-day claims processing, eligibility verification, and pre-authorisation requests on Orient's behalf. When you visit an Orient-network dental clinic, the clinic verifies your insurance through the Nextcare provider portal using your Orient Health Card details. For pre-auth and claim queries at the clinic level, the clinic contacts Nextcare. For disputes about what your policy covers and policy-level questions, contact Orient Insurance directly on 04-235-7700. The Nextcare member portal at nextcarehealth.com can also be used to check your dental benefit balance.
What is the annual dental sub-limit on Orient Insurance plans?
Annual dental sub-limits on Orient Insurance plans vary based on the tier your employer has selected. Entry-level and basic plans typically cover AED 1,000–1,500 per year for preventive care and basic restorative treatments. Standard mid-tier plans cover AED 2,000–2,500 per year including composite fillings and emergency care. Enhanced plans cover up to AED 2,500 per year with access to crowns and surgical extractions (with pre-auth). Your exact annual dental cap is stated in your Certificate of Insurance. You can also check your remaining dental balance via the Nextcare member portal or by calling Orient on 04-235-7700.
How do I submit an Orient Insurance dental reimbursement claim?
If you visited a dental clinic outside the Orient network, pay the full amount upfront and submit a reimbursement claim within 90 days of treatment. Required documents include the original itemised invoice and payment receipt from the clinic, a copy of your Orient Health Card and Emirates ID, a completed Orient reimbursement claim form (downloadable from orientinsurance.ae), and clinical notes or a prescription if applicable. Submit your claim to Orient Insurance by email or post as directed on the form. Reimbursement is processed at Orient's scheduled fee rate, which may be less than what a premium clinic charged. If Nextcare is your TPA, some plans allow submission via the Nextcare portal for faster processing.
Does Orient Insurance cover dental check-ups and cleaning without pre-auth?
Yes — routine dental treatments including consultation and examination, dental X-rays (periapical and bitewing), and scale and polish (teeth cleaning) are typically covered without pre-authorisation at Orient-network clinics, subject to the annual dental sub-limit being available. Scale and polish is usually covered once or twice per year depending on your plan tier. These treatments are processed via direct billing: the clinic verifies your card through the Orient or Nextcare portal and you pay only your co-payment (typically 10–20% of the approved amount). Check your Certificate of Insurance for the exact frequency allowance for cleanings on your plan.
What is the co-payment for dental treatment under Orient Insurance?
The co-payment under Orient Insurance dental plans is typically 10–20% of the approved treatment cost. For example, if a composite filling is approved at AED 350, you pay AED 35–70 at the clinic and Orient (via Nextcare TPA) settles the remainder directly with the clinic. The specific co-insurance percentage is documented in your Certificate of Insurance and may vary between preventive and restorative treatments. Some employer group plans negotiate 0% co-pay for preventive care (checkups and cleaning) while maintaining 20% for restorative treatments. Cosmetic and excluded treatments (implants, whitening) attract no coverage — you pay the full cost.
Can I find an Orient Insurance dentist in Abu Dhabi or Sharjah?
Yes — Orient Insurance has provider networks across all seven UAE emirates, not just Dubai. To find in-network dental clinics in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, or other emirates, use the provider search at orientinsurance.ae or call 04-235-7700 for assistance. Select 'Dental' as the specialty and specify your emirate or city. You can also use the DentistNearMeDubai platform — although our primary focus is Dubai, we list clinics across the UAE that accept major insurers including Orient. Always call the clinic ahead of your visit to confirm active Orient network membership in your specific emirate, as coverage networks can differ by region.
Does Orient Insurance cover emergency dental treatment?
Yes — emergency dental treatment is covered under Orient Insurance plans without pre-authorisation in most cases. Emergency dental coverage typically includes examination and X-rays related to the emergency, emergency extraction of a severely infected tooth, pain relief medication, and temporary dressings or restorations to relieve acute pain. If you experience a dental emergency, you can visit any Orient-network dental clinic and present your Orient Health Card for direct billing. If no network clinic is immediately accessible, visit the nearest licensed dental clinic, pay upfront, and submit a reimbursement claim with the clinical notes and invoices within 90 days.
What happens to my Orient Insurance plan if I change jobs in the UAE?
Your Orient Insurance dental coverage is tied to your employer's group plan, not to you as an individual. If you change employers, your Orient plan typically ends on your last working day (or at the end of the month, depending on the policy terms). Your new employer may have a different insurer — or may also be with Orient if they have the same group plan. There is usually a gap in coverage during the transition. If you leave employment without immediately joining a new employer, you can explore individual health plans from Daman SmartCare or other UAE insurers that include dental riders. Always request a letter confirming your previous coverage dates from Orient when leaving an employer, as this may be required for new policy applications.

Pre-Authorisation Requirements for Orient Insurance Dental

Pre-authorisation is the formal approval Orient Insurance must give before you undergo certain dental treatments. Without it, major dental claims will be rejected.

    TreatmentPre-Auth RequiredOrient Response Time
Dental examination and X-raysNoInstant direct billing
Scale and polish (prophylaxis)NoInstant direct billing
Amalgam or composite fillingsNoInstant direct billing
    Simple tooth extractionNo (usually)Same day
Root canal treatment (single-rooted)Yes2–3 working days

Dental crown (PFM or zirconia)Yes2–3 working days
    Surgical tooth extractionYes2–3 working days
Dental bridgeYes (enhanced plan only)3–5 working days

Important: no pre-auth means no reimbursement

Orient Insurance will reject claims for major dental work started without prior authorisation. Your in-network dentist should initiate the pre-auth process — if they do not mention it, ask explicitly. For treatments requiring pre-auth, never consent to starting the procedure until you have received written approval from Orient.

Emergency Dental Coverage Under Orient Insurance

Orient Insurance covers genuine dental emergencies without the pre-authorisation requirement. An emergency is defined as an acute condition requiring immediate treatment to prevent serious harm or relieve severe pain.

    Emergency Situations Covered

    • Severe acute toothache or dental abscess
    • Knocked-out or fractured tooth from trauma
    • Acute infection requiring drainage
    • Broken filling or crown causing pain
    • Severe pericoronitis (wisdom tooth infection)
    • Emergency extraction of acutely infected tooth
    • Trauma to soft tissues of mouth

    Emergency Coverage Tips

    • 1. Use an Orient in-network clinic where possible — out-of-network emergency reimbursement is at scheduled fees, typically 70–80% of what premium clinics charge.
    • 2. Emergency treatment is for immediate relief only. Crown or bridge work following emergency root canal still needs standard pre-auth at the follow-up appointment.
    • 3. Call Orient on 04-235-7700 or the after-hours line on your card if you need guidance on the nearest in-network emergency dental clinic.
    • 4. Collect all clinical documentation: X-rays, itemised invoice, prescription — you will need these for any out-of-network reimbursement claim.

For clinics offering same-day urgent appointments, see our emergency dentist Dubai directory — many are Orient network providers.

Tips to Get Maximum Value From Your Orient Dental Plan

Small actions throughout the year add up to significant savings under your Orient Insurance dental benefit.

    Schedule both annual cleanings

Orient Standard and Enhanced plans cover 2 scale-and-polish sessions per year. Both are pre-auth free and cost you nothing on the plan. A cleaning every 6 months prevents cavities and gum disease that would otherwise require expensive covered treatment.

Start pre-auth early in the year

Annual dental caps reset on your policy anniversary (often 1 January). Submit pre-auth requests in January rather than December so treatment falls within your new policy year with a fresh annual maximum.

Confirm your plan tier with HR

Orient offers Entry, Standard, and Enhanced tiers. Many employees do not know their plan level. Confirming your tier ensures you request coverage for the right treatments — an Enhanced plan holder may claim crowns that a Basic plan holder cannot.

Keep itemised invoices for all treatment

Even for direct-billed treatment, retain the itemised invoice from the clinic. If there is any billing dispute or you need to claim for a treatment partially denied, you will need this documentation for Orient's appeals process.

Use your plan before switching jobs

Your Orient dental benefit ends on your last day of employment. If you have remaining benefit balance and a dental need, use it before your employment ends. Timing an existing crown pre-auth to complete before your exit date can save AED 2,000–4,000.

Ask about payment plans for excluded treatments

For treatments Orient excludes (implants, veneers, Invisalign), many Dubai dental clinics offer 0% installment plans across 3–6 months. See our <Link href='/dental-packages-dubai' className='underline text-emerald-700'>dental packages guide</Link> for clinics with bundled pricing.

Orient Insurance Dental Network in Dubai — Areas and How to Find Clinics

Orient maintains a dental provider network across Dubai. Coverage is strongest in commercial and residential districts where Al Futtaim group companies have a significant workforce presence.

How to find Orient network clinics near you

Use the Orient provider search at orientinsurance.ae or call 04-235-7700. On DentistNearMeDubai, filter by Orient Insurance in the search bar to see verified clinics. Always call your chosen clinic to confirm active network status before booking — network lists can lag behind actual agreements by a few weeks.

How to Submit a Reimbursement Claim to Orient Insurance

If you use a clinic outside the Orient network, you pay upfront and submit a reimbursement claim. This process applies to out-of-network treatment or emergency situations away from in-network clinics.

    1

Collect complete documentation at the clinic

Before leaving any dental clinic — whether in-network or out — obtain an original itemised invoice listing all procedures by name and code, any dental X-rays taken, clinical notes confirming diagnosis, and the clinic's DHA or HAAD licence number. Incomplete documentation is the most common cause of reimbursement claim rejection.

    2

Download and complete the Orient reimbursement form

The Orient Insurance reimbursement claim form is available on orientinsurance.ae under 'Claims'. Complete all fields accurately: member ID, plan number, treatment date, clinic details, and procedure codes. If you are unsure of your member ID, it appears on your Orient Health Card.

    3

    Attach proof of payment

Include your credit card statement or bank transfer confirmation alongside the itemised invoice. Orient requires evidence that you personally paid the full amount before reimbursement is authorised.

    4

    Submit within 90 days

Orient Insurance reimbursement claims must be submitted within 90 days of treatment. Late submissions are rejected. Send your completed claim package by email or courier to Orient's claims department — the current address and email appear on orientinsurance.ae under 'Contact'.

    5

Track your claim and expect payment within 21 working days

Orient typically processes reimbursement claims within 14–21 working days of receiving complete documentation. Reimbursement is at Orient's scheduled fee rate for each procedure — which may be lower than what a premium clinic charges. If you have not received a response within 21 days, follow up with Orient's claims team on 04-235-7700.
